Richard Lewis hails from Lancaster California. As a child his family went on numerous camping trips across the United States in their VW Camper. Initially Richard studied journalism at Syracuse University. He would go on to pursue Multi-Media Design at the Art Institute and later received an MFA in Graphic Design from Digital Media Arts College.

Richard has been a professional musician part time all of his life. His first instrument was the violin, but he soon found the guitar and later electronic instruments. He has been programming music and graphics for the computer since he was 10 years old. As a member of the band Voyager One, Richard had the opportunity to perform across the West Coast. Currently he scores music and produces music videos in addition to being the author, animator, composer, and programmer for Bear Legend.

While living in a small cabin in the remote Okanogan region of North Eastern Washington, Richard discovered a personal relationship with the animals that visited each season. It was here, while working for the Colville Confederated Tribes, that Richard began learning the local legends behind the animals of the region and the foundation for Bear Legend began.

Cristina Lewis is from Bogota Colombia. As a child she had the opportunity to live in Spain and developed her interest in sculpture at a young age. Initially Cristina was trained as an architect at Los Andes University in Bogota Colombia. She would go on to pursue sculpture at Parson’s School of Design in New York City where she received her MFA.

While on vacation in Fort Lauderdale Florida she met Richard and they began sharing a love for nature. Cristina & Richard have climbed to 16.000 feet in the mountains of Colombia, backpacked for 15 days in the Great Smokey Mountains of North Carolina, and own a wilderness preserve in Villa de Leyva Colombia. These experiences drew Cristina into a world of illustrating bears for Bear Legend.
